Here we come a-caroling! On Sunday, December 17, all FIRE students and all ages of the congregation are encouraged to join us in sharing the Gospel and spreading Christmas cheer to our shut-ins and local care facilities. This is an enjoyable time of fellowship and a great way to meet new people. We will meet at church at 3 pm and return to church by 5 pm. Please sign up at the Communications Center. Questions? We are taking donations for the Christmas goody bags to hand out at the Christmas Program on December 16. The items may be candy, small trinket toys, etc. Please, no breakables. Also, a supply of pencils has already been donated, so we have plenty of pencils! Donations are due by December 10. Any questions? Contact Korey.
SCIA Christmas Gathering
The SCIA Christmas Gathering will be Thursday, December 15, from 11 am to 1 pm at Places Restaurant at John Knox Village. We will meet in the Gallery Room at Places and will order lunch off the menu. After lunch, we will sing a few Christmas carols and enjoy fellowship. Those attending should sign up by December 11. If you have any questions, please call Marge Schultz.
Children’s Christmas Choir Practice
We are excited to have the Praise Band, an instrumental ensemble, and the Traditional Choir join us in celebrating our Savior’s birth at the 1st Annual “Beautiful Christmas” music program. If your child would like to participate in the Christmas program on December 17th (6:30pm), they are asked to join us for these practice times.
Grades 1 and up: December 3, 10, and 17 from 11:00am – 12:00pm
Age 3 through Kindergarten will practice during Sunday School hour, December 4, 11 (9:15am), and on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11am –12noon.
Please join us next Saturday, December 17, at 6 pm in the Family Life Center for the 1st Annual “Beautiful Christmas,” The Not So Silent Night. We are excited to have the Praise Band, an instrumental ensemble, children’s and adult choirs all leading us in worship to celebrate our Savior’s birth.
Need Some Adult Time to go Christmas Shopping or on a Date?
As a fundraiser, the high school youth are providing childcare for ages 3 and up on Saturday, December 10, from 12noon – 3pm. The cost is $10 per child, with a family maximum cost of $25. Children will enjoy pizza, games, crafts, and more! There is a maximum number of children which we are able to care for, so please sign up right away. Respite Christmas party
If you would like to help with this year's Respite Christmas party on Sunday, December 18, from 3-6 pm, contact Denise Murphy at 816-229-2625. Do you know someone with a special needs child? Have them join our mailing list for Respite events, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or pick up a flyer to share with them.
Once again, we will be adorning our altar with poinsettias for the glory of God this Christmas season. Please sign up if you would like to purchase a red poinsettia. Each plant is $9.45. Please write your check to Beautiful Savior, with “poinsettia” in the memo line. You’ll be able to take your plant home any time after Christmas Day.
Lutheran High School Christmas Concert
You are invited to the Lutheran High School Christmas concert on Sunday, December 4, at 7pm. This year's location is at the Timothy Lutheran Ministries campus at 301 SW Wyatt Rd in Blue Springs. The Choirs, Band and Handbells will all be performing music of the Christmas season. Last year we invited audience members to join the groups on stage to perform the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah, and it was a great success. We will do it again this year as the concert finale. Please bring your music and join us!
BLAZE 6th Annual Christmas Port-a-Party!
It will be a wild sleigh ride (well, without the sleigh) on Saturday, December 11, as we celebrate Christmas through activities, gift exchange, and more! The fun begins at church at 12 noon and will end at church at 5 pm. Please bring $15 to cover costs, and a wrapped white elephant gift for the gift exchange. What is a white elephant gift? Find something appropriate from your house which your family no longer uses, wrap it up, and you have your gift for the gift exchange. If you plan to attend, please sign up outside Korey’s office by Wednesday, December 7. We will need parent drivers. Parents, please sign up if you are available to drive.
FIRE Students! “ALL ABOARD! JOIN THE COOKIE EXPRESS!”
On December 18, from 2pm-5pm, students will be celebrating Christmas by delivering Christmas cookies to local service agencies, hospital staff, military recruiting offices and more. We will also have a white elephant gift exchange, Christmas games, and enjoy dinner together. Here is what you need to bring: A dozen cookies/bars and a white elephant gift. What is a white elephant gift? Find something appropriate from your house which your family no longer uses, wrap it up, and you have your gift for the gift exchange. If you plan to attend, please sign up outside Korey’s office by Wednesday, December 14. We may need parent drivers. Parents, please sign up if you are available to drive.
CHRISTMAS BAKED GOODS NEEDED
Are you gearing up for Christmas baking? If so, please consider making an extra dozen (or more) to donate for BSLC’s FIRE Jr. High Ministry Cookie Express event. Students will be packaging your baked good donations and then delivering them to local public service agencies, hospital staff, military recruiting offices, etc. If you will donate baked goods, please sign up at the Information Center or by emailing Korey.
