What is Upward Basketball?
Upward is a sports ministry for boys and girls in kindergarten
through sixth grade that promotes character and self-esteem,
and, most importantly, connects both children and adults to
Jesus Christ. Currently, Beautiful Savior
Lutheran Church’s league offers basketball.
Upward provides opportunities for volunteers from all walks of life
to become meaningfully involved in the ministry of our church. There are
opportunities to pray for the program, coach a team, referee a game,
share a devotion and develop relationships in order to open avenues of
ministry to the people in our community. |

Locations
There are three Upward Basketball Leagues in the area to
ensure that families can practice and play close to home:
- Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (South Lee’s Summit)

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Basketball early registration cost is $90; after October
09, the cost is
$100.
Deadline for registration is October 16.
* Basketball shorts are included in the player kit.
EVALUATIONS AND ORIENTATIONS:
Everyone must attend one basketball orientation.
They will take place at the Beautiful Savior
Lutheran Church Gym as follows:
Saturday, October 16
Kindergarten Boys/Girls
between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
1st and 2nd Grade Boys/Girls
between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
3rd and 4th Grade Boys/Girls
between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
5th and 6th Grade Boys/Girls
between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
LEAGUE SCHEDULE:
Practices Begin - Monday, November 15, 2010
First Game - Saturday, January 8, 2011
Last Game - Saturday, February 26, 2011
Awards Celebration - Sunday, February 27, 2011
-Basketball Practices: Basketball players
practice once a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday
evenings. Teams practice at Beautiful Savior and
another elementary school in South Lee's Summit yet to be assigned.
- Games: Each team will play 8 games on Saturdays only. All
games played at Beautiful Savior and Prairie View
Elementary located next door to Beautiful Savior.
